The Mushroom Stickers project began as a simple exercise in a drawing class, where I initially created some sketches that were later discarded. However, something about those sketches resonated with me, and I found myself drawn to the idea of bringing these little guys to life. As I delved deeper into their design, I became increasingly enamored with the concept, eventually deciding to transform them into tangible items that could brighten up our world in sticker form.
DESIGN PROCESS
The sketches for the Mushroom Stickers served as both a dynamic posing exercise and a playground for puns. Despite once being a staunch mushroom hater, my perspective shifted as I rediscovered my love for mushrooms later in life. I was captivated by their diversity in shape and taste, each mushroom possessing its own unique personality. This diversity served as the foundation for the characters depicted in the sketches, with each mushroom reflecting a distinct personality and flavor. Through this project, I aimed to celebrate the intricacies of mushrooms while infusing each character with its own charm.
While initially intended to be part of a batch of stickers featuring fresh fruit, the Mushroom Stickers stood out due to their fungal nature. Recognizing this, I decided to develop them as a standalone project. This allowed for a deeper exploration of their design, resulting in a collection that feels more coherent and thematically aligned. Through deliberate design choices, I created a series of stickers that celebrate the charm of mushrooms while maintaining a distinctive and unified aesthetic.
